About

Farbota (they/them) is an actor, artist, and writer who strives to build compassion across communities by giving voice to untold stories with humor and emotional truth.

After studying acting at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where they came to understand storytelling as an instrumental piece of shaping our culture, they moved to Chicago to focus on a career in film. Since then, they have been involved in a number of local shorts and features as a writer, dancer, and actor. Most recently, they wrote the magical realism short film First(ish) Date, an official selection for Cinema Diverse: The Palm Springs LGBTQ+ Film Festival 2023 and Tampa Bay Int’l Gay and Lesbian Film Festival

They are co-founder of the independent production company Handkerchief Films, which is slated to shoot its second short film Winter 2023.

While not working, Farbota can be found climbing at local Chicago gyms or cruising up a Wisconsin crag.
